Villa Finale: Museum & Gardens, San Antonio

About Villa Finale: Museum & Gardens

Villa Finale: Museum & Gardens houses over 12,000 artifacts collected by preservationist Walter Nold Mathis, including musical instruments, antique music machines, and Victorian-era record players displayed throughout a restored 1876 Italianate home in San Antonio's King William neighborhood. Visitors tour both floors of the mansion and explore its classical gardens, a Southern landscape design example along the edge of the famous River Walk. Self-guided tours in English and Spanish are available Tuesday through Saturday, with guided tours offered on Thursdays. The grounds remain free and open to the public during operating hours. A unique champagne reception tour with the curator includes demonstrations of the musical collection's mysteries. Children enjoy seasonal family programming such as Halloween activities with games, contests, and treats in the gardens. The museum accommodates visitors with accessibility parking on Sheridan Street and enforces a size-restricted bag policy with complimentary secure lockers provided for safekeeping of personal items during tours.
