About Casa Navarro State Historic Site

Casa Navarro State Historic Site preserves the 1850s adobe and limestone home of José Antonio Navarro, a rancher, merchant, and native-born Texan who signed the Texas Declaration of Independence. Visitors tour the main house, general store, kitchen, dining room, and other structures that illustrate Navarro's life and the history of the Tejano community in old San Antonio. The site offers guided tours and school field trips through the historic property. Seasonal programs include hands-on activities such as an Adobe Workshop where participants learn adobe-making history and create their own full-sized brick, and El Camino Real Archeology Day, where visitors become archaeologists by exploring artifacts and creating pinch pots or rock art. An interactive virtual tour allows exploration from anywhere. The site is located in the heart of old San Antonio in the historic Laredito neighborhood and publishes admission prices online.
