The USA Weightlifting Hall of Fame documents the evolution of strength sports from ancient mythology through the modern Olympic Games, professional strongmen of the 19th and 20th centuries, and contemporary Olympic weightlifting and powerlifting. Visitors take a self-guided counterclockwise tour through approximately 8,000 square feet of exhibits on the first floor of the York Barbell corporate headquarters. The museum features a seven-and-a-half-foot bronze statue of Bob Hoffman at the entrance. Inside the two-story lobby stand life-size bronze busts of Steve Stanko and Bob Hoffman alongside displays of 19th-century spherical-end dumbbells and barbells. Visitors see the 185kg Elite certified weightlifting set, the only such set manufactured in the United States and approved for international competition. The Strongmanism exhibit showcases plaques, trophies, and vintage barbells, including a statue of 19th-century strongman Louis Cyr and his 220-pound stage dumbbell. An auditorium with an Olympic weightlifting platform hosts competitions and film screenings. The museum is located in York, Pennsylvania, two miles north of the city at exit 24 off Interstate 83.
