About UGA Marine Education Center and Aquarium

UGA Marine Education Center and Aquarium sits on Skidaway Island, less than 30 minutes from downtown Savannah. Georgia's first saltwater aquarium, it features 16 exhibit tanks showcasing marine life from the Georgia coast. Visitors walk through displays arranged by habitat, from offshore reefs to inshore tidal creeks, observing more than 100 marine animals. The public touch tank lets guests handle marine invertebrates such as whelks and crabs. Interactive educational exhibits explain Georgia's coastal environment. The Jay Wolf Nature Trail winds 1.5 miles through maritime forest and salt marsh, with an ADA-accessible boardwalk offering Skidaway River views and an interpretive cabin. The Skidaway Learning Garden at the entrance features native plants and animals. A covered pavilion with picnic tables overlooks the river bluff. Friday Feeding programs let visitors watch marine educators feed animals while explaining their behaviors and diets.
