About The Ridges
The Ridges is a 700-acre historic property across the Hocking River from Ohio University's Athens campus. Visitors explore the Ohio Museum Complex and Kennedy Museum of Art, housed in renovated buildings on the grounds. The site features an Ohio University observatory where the public can attend telescope nights. Hiking trails and birdwatching areas span more than 500 acres designated for recreational use. Self-guided cell phone tours allow visitors to follow GPS instructions and learn about specific stops throughout the property. Historical walking tours led by staff provide guided experiences across the landscape. The Ridges combines cultural attractions, outdoor recreation and educational programming in a single location. The property's mix of museums, observatory access, trails and walking tours makes it suitable for visitors interested in art, nature, history and astronomy.
