The Mustangs of Las Colinas is a breathtakingly realistic bronze sculpture depicting nine wild mustangs galloping across a stream. Created by world-renowned sculptor Robert Glen, the larger-than-life artwork serves as the centerpiece of Williams Square, a stark pink granite plaza in the Las Colinas Urban Center. Visitors can view the impressive sculpture, which was commissioned in 1976 to reflect Texas's natural, untamed past. The museum and visitor center shares the story of how Glen spent a year researching mustang history, studying pure Spanish bloodlines in southern Spain to accurately model his work. Glen created small-scale models in various poses, then half life-sized models, before the foundry in England scaled them to one-and-a-half times life-size. The sculpture represents a significant landmark that draws tourists from around the world. Located in Irving, Texas, general admission to the Mustangs of Las Colinas Museum and Visitor Center is free.
