About Tennessee Williams Key West Exhibit

Tennessee Williams Key West Exhibit tells the story of one of America's greatest 20th century playwrights through an extensive collection of artifacts and documents. Visitors tour displays featuring photographs, first edition plays and books, rare newspaper and magazine articles, and videos about Williams' life and work. The exhibit includes a typewriter Williams used while writing in Key West and a scale model of his residence. Williams lived in Key West from 1941 until his death in 1983, and he completed the final draft of Streetcar Named Desire at the La Concha Hotel in 1947. The museum displays materials related to his major works including The Glass Menagerie and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Visitors interested in American theater history, literary classics, or Key West's cultural heritage will find detailed documentation of Williams' creative process and his significant contributions to American drama during his decades in the city.
