About Alex Vega Key West Firehouse Museum

The Alex Vega Key West Firehouse Museum occupies a historic firehouse in Old Town and invites visitors to explore more than a century of island firefighting history. Inside, guests climb behind the wheel of a classic 1929 American LaFrance fire engine, touch the bell that tolled for Ernest Hemingway, and examine vintage fire engines and rare artifacts. The museum features retired and active firefighter volunteers who share stories and answer questions about the characters who shaped Key West's firefighting past. Visitors can take self-guided audio tours with a smartphone and headphones, meet the volunteer staff, pull a fire alarm, and browse merchandise. The firehouse also hosts paranormal investigation experiences after hours, featuring a 45-minute immersive AudioPhonic tour and 75 minutes of independent investigation with professional equipment. The museum is located in Key West, Florida, and opens Wednesday through Saturday with hours published on the venue's website.
