About Oldest House Museum & Gardens Key West

The Oldest House Museum & Gardens in Key West invites visitors to explore the island's early history through a house built circa 1829 and the surrounding Tom Majors Garden. Guests tour period-furnished rooms, family heirlooms, and exhibits throughout the house at their own pace using a self-guided mobile tour. The Captain's Room displays maritime artifacts, original maps and navigational charts, and stories of the island's wrecking industry. The Tom Majors Garden features a peaceful tropical landscape with the oldest surviving cookhouse in Key West and native plants that once sustained early families. The museum is wheelchair accessible with an ADA-compliant ramp. Group visits from schools, camps, nonprofits, and community organizations are welcome with advance notice.
