About Sunrise Community Farm Center

Sunrise Community Farm Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina is an inclusive farm where visitors of all ages and abilities explore land and gardens, connect with animals, and experience nature through hands-on activities. Saturday open farm visits allow guests to walk through vegetable gardens, pick produce in season, feed and hold chickens, cuddle rabbits, and interact with goats, pigs, and horses. Children can play in the woods, climb a climbing tree, or simply relax and watch farm activity. The center offers after-school programs, mini camps during school closures, field trips with guided farm tours, enrichment classes, horse lessons for ages three and up, and special programs including Storytime with Animals that combines reading, crafts, animal interactions, and pony rides. Weekend gatherings and events such as the Harvest Festival and live music performances provide additional opportunities for community engagement. Volunteers can also participate in the farm's work and mission.
