About Southern Empress Cruises

Southern Empress Cruises operates a 131-foot sternwheeler riverboat on Lake Conroe near Willis. Built in 1983 as a recreation of a 1800s-era paddle-wheeler, the vessel was cut into 27 sections, transported to the lake, and meticulously reassembled. Visitors board the Southern Empress for evening cruises that feature a three-course meal served on the main deck, a full selection of drinks including signature cocktails and fine wines, and live music or DJ entertainment for dancing. The cruise schedule includes specialty experiences such as murder mystery dinners, where guests participate in solving a suspenseful whodunit while dining, and dueling piano shows featuring a two-hour performance. The boat accommodates both public cruises and private events throughout the year, making it suitable for romantic getaways, corporate gatherings, and other celebrations.
