California's only Viking museum showcases authentic Norse artifacts and immerses visitors in Viking Age history. The museum houses two reproductions of Viking ships, the Snorri and Godfred, built at the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde, Denmark. Visitors examine featured exhibits including Weapons of the Norse Warriors, displaying authentic archeological artifacts found in Northern Europe, and Archaeology and Metal Detector Finds, featuring items discovered in the United Kingdom. The Viking Rune Stones exhibit displays carvings by Erik the Red Sandquist, one of the world's leading rune stone carvers. Additional exhibits explore the transition From Norse Mythology to Christianity, the Danish Vikings including figures like Ragnar Lothbrok and Svend Bluetooth, and Queen Emma's Dresses from the television series Vikings: Valhalla. The museum also features a full-scale statue of Holger Danske, the only one outside Denmark. Located in Solvang, the museum brings together artifacts and immersive displays that tell the story of Viking exploration and civilization.
