About Smithville Community Historical Society

Smithville Community Historical Society is a not-for-profit organization that operates the Pioneer Village, where visitors explore buildings and artifacts spanning the pioneer lifestyle from 1830 to 1890. The site features log cabins, a general store, and other mid-1800s landmarks that showcase early American pioneering life. Volunteers manage the organization entirely, having done so since its founding in 1990. Visitors can tour the historic buildings, attend seasonal events like Harvest Fest and Market Day, and participate in general public meetings held throughout the year. The society offers membership at multiple levels for those interested in supporting preservation of nineteenth-century artifacts and structures. Site rentals are available for those planning gatherings. The Pioneer Village operates as a repository of local heritage, maintained by community volunteers dedicated to sharing these historical resources with the public.
