Silver City Ghost Town preserves over twenty historic buildings relocated to Bodfish from frontier settlements including Keyesville, Whiskey Flat, old Isabella, and Claraville. Visitors explore the original Isabella jail, where gunslinger Newt Walker was locked up in 1905, and tour the Apalatea/Burlando House, believed the valley's oldest standing structure, which now houses a saloon and country store. The site features period miners' cabins, a post office, general store, and a rustic church. Thousands of artifacts are displayed throughout the property. The Corlew family, who purchased and restored Silver City in 1990 after it closed for fifteen years, maintains an "arrested decay" philosophy—showing how gold outposts may have looked after miners departed rather than appearing brand new.
