The Railway Museum of San Angelo occupies a historic depot constructed in 1909-1910 in the Cultural District. Visitors explore the restored building to view model trains, historical photographs, and a static train exhibit illustrating San Angelo's railroad heritage. The museum interprets the city's connection to the railway industry during the 1920s cattle era, the 1923 oil boom following the Santa Rita well discovery, and the role railroads played in establishing Goodfellow Air Force Base during World War II. The museum operates a little Choo Choo Train that visitors can ride, offers guided tours in English and Spanish, and features craft activities for children. Special events throughout the year include celebrations of National Train Days. The nonprofit museum preserves this significant architectural and cultural landmark within the community.
Hours: Friday 1–5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.–4 p.m., Sunday 1–5 p.m.
