About Pop Art Museum

Pop Art Museum is an open-air gallery in downtown San Angelo inspired by the Pop Art movement of the 1950s and 60s. Visitors wander through murals created by over 30 local artists displayed throughout the space. The artwork draws from San Angelo's rich history, featuring scenes of the wool industry and the city's famous Rodeo and Stock Show, presented in the colorful, everyday-object style of Pop Art. The museum occupies the former Star Lanes bowling alley, which serves as an unconventional canvas against the downtown backdrop. The gallery operates 24 hours, organized by the nonprofit Art in Uncommon Places, whose founders Julie Raymond and Joy Thomas have also created projects including Paintbrush Alley, The River Corridor, Fish Out Of Water, and The Red Arroyo Art Trail. Families and solo visitors can explore the murals and learn about the contributing artists through the museum's website.
