Quarters One is a historic mansion on Rock Island Arsenal available for tours and event rentals. Built in the 1870s, it is the second-largest federal residence in the United States, surpassed only by the White House. The building served for generations as the home of senior Army leaders and a gathering place for dignitaries and ceremonies. Visitors can explore Quarters One through self-guided tours offered almost monthly, which allow exploration of the building's history and grandeur. The venue hosts weddings and receptions, graduation parties, birthday parties, anniversaries, holiday parties, retirement parties, and corporate meetings and functions. The first floor accommodates a maximum of 117 people. Alcoholic beverages must be purchased through the Rock Island Arsenal Lock & Dam Lounge. Decorations cannot use tape, nails, screws, or staples to preserve the historic building. Children under 18 must be supervised by an adult at all times.
