About Plattsburgh Air Force Base Museum
Plattsburgh Air Force Base Museum tells the story of the oldest military post in the United States and its forty-year history hosting the U.S. Air Force in the North Country. The museum, reopened in 2014 by the Battle of Plattsburgh Association, occupies a historic building originally used as a carpenter and blacksmith shop. Visitors explore exhibits about the 380th Bomb Wing of the Strategic Air Command and the 380th Air Refueling Wing of the Air Mobility Command. A featured attraction is the Cardboard Trainer, a replica cockpit of the FB-111A where flight enthusiasts can sit inside and learn the placement of switches, dials, knobs and controls used in normal and emergency procedures. Behind the museum, the Clyde A. Lewis Park displays vintage aircraft outdoors on the former base grounds. The museum is located in Plattsburgh, New York.
