About Osnaburg Historical Society

The Osnaburg Historical Society operates a museum housed in a former Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church building in East Canton, Ohio. Visitors explore a collection that includes furniture, photographs, glassware and books, most donated by community residents and many items from the village of Mapleton. The society also maintains a brick home built in 1834, originally known as Werner Inn and later called Reed Tavern. Beyond static exhibits, the museum hosts community events including ice cream socials and visits with Santa. The historical society partners with a local American Legion post to honor veterans through a wreaths program at five township cemeteries. The organization meets monthly and welcomes those interested in local history, preservation efforts and township heritage. The society was founded in the late 1970s to collect, preserve and publish historical material related to Osnaburg Township.
