About National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force

National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force in Pooler preserves the history of the United States Eighth Air Force during World War II. Visitors explore exhibits about the arrival of the Eighth Air Force in England and its role in defeating the Axis Powers. The museum features restoration projects of legendary bombers, including the B-17 Flying Fortress City of Savannah and the B-24 Liberator. The Chapel of the Fallen Eagles and Memorial Garden honor those who served. The Roger A. Freeman Research Center provides access to historical materials. The museum hosts Target for Today, a weekly series examining different aspects of Eighth Air Force history from prisoner-of-war experiences to the home front, and Mail Call, which features wartime letters read in airmen's own voices. Bombardier School sessions and day camps offer hands-on learning experiences.
