About Mountain Skies Astronomy Science Center

Mountain Skies Astronomy Science Center is a museum operated by the Mountain Skies Astronomical Society, established in 1989, offering science education to the public in Lake Arrowhead, California. The centerpiece is the Robert Brownlee Observatory, a solar-powered dome housing a computer-controlled 17.2-inch diameter research-grade telescope for observing distant celestial objects. A 5-inch refracting telescope mounted on the primary instrument enables safe solar viewing. The facility bridges textbook knowledge with hands-on experience in the sciences by providing public access to professional astronomical tools. Visitors participate in public facility tours and evening programs led by a team of scientists, researchers, and educational professionals. The organization serves students from kindergarten through grade twelve, graduate students, and general audiences seeking direct engagement with astronomy and scientific inquiry.
