The Monroe Historical Society preserves and interprets the history of Monroe, Ohio through three distinct locations that visitors can explore. The main Museum Building houses historical artifacts and displays related to the area's past. The 1910 Building General Store offers a glimpse into early twentieth-century commerce and community life. A reconstructed Pioneer Log Cabin, located in Monroe Community Park, demonstrates frontier-era living conditions and construction methods. The society encourages historical research through its collections and publications while maintaining public displays of local interest. Visitors interested in Monroe's heritage can tour these facilities during designated hours or arrange private showings by contacting the society directly. The organization operates entirely through volunteer efforts and welcomes community members to participate in special events, archiving duties, and window displays at the General Store. History enthusiasts and those with family connections to Monroe find these attractions meaningful destinations.
Admission is free. The venue says: “The presentation as well as admission to the museums are free.”
