About Luther Burbank’s Gold Ridge Experiment Farm

Luther Burbank's Gold Ridge Experiment Farm is a historical and botanical park preserving the horticultural work of Luther Burbank in Sebastopol, California. The farm operates daily from dawn to dusk and is free to the public. Visitors stroll the grounds on self-guided tours using brochures available at the parking lot kiosk or decorative mailbox by the cottage, with leashed dogs permitted. The on-site nursery offers Burbank-developed plant varieties, fruit trees, perennials, and succulents optimized for Sonoma County's climate, including rare Burbank fruit trees available for purchase. The historic Burbank cottage is open Wednesdays mornings. Docent-led tours of the farm, cottage, and barn accommodate groups of adults and schoolchildren. Visitors can view plant hybrids that exist nowhere else in the world, alongside Burbank varieties now found worldwide, as well as experiments he conducted over ninety years ago and new experiments extending his legacy. Wednesday volunteer workdays from nine to noon allow visitors to engage with volunteers and learn about the park's plants and history.
