The Lustron-Whitehall Historical Society occupies a relocated Lustron home built in 1949, now situated in Whitehall Community Park in Columbus. Visitors tour this prefabricated house, an example of post-World War II suburban housing that reflects the city's expansion during that era. The Lustron Corporation, founded by Chicago engineer Carl Strandlund, manufactured approximately 2,500 of these distinctive homes between 1948 and 1950 before bankruptcy forced closure. The house on display was originally built in London, Ohio, then disassembled and moved to its current location in 2005. The Society's headquarters demonstrates the construction methods and design characteristic of Lustron homes, which have achieved iconic status among preservation enthusiasts nationwide. The Society remains active in Lustron preservation efforts and hosted a major Lustron Preservation conference in 2004.
