About Luehrs’ Ideal Rides

Luehrs' Ideal Rides is a traveling carnival midway that operates at festivals throughout Illinois, offering major rides, kiddie rides, games, and food concessions. Visitors ride attractions including the Octopus, Ferris wheel, Merry-go-round, and Schiffer coaster. The midway provides games where guests can win prizes alongside food options. General admission to the midway is free. Founded in 1956 by Hub and Winnie Luehrs, the carnival began with five rides and has been operated by the same family for four generations. The Schoendienst and Clair families, grandchildren of the founders, currently own and operate the business. In 2024, the Outdoor Amusement Business Association recognized Luehrs' Ideal Rides as a Circle of Excellence member, an accreditation the show has maintained since 2004. The carnival operates at community festivals in Collinsville and throughout the region, bringing amusement rides and attractions to Illinois visitors.
