About Collinsville Historical Museum

The Collinsville Historical Museum preserves artifacts spanning from 1707 to the present day. Visitors explore exhibits documenting the city's past through displays on diverse topics. The Historic Churches of Collinsville exhibit features ten of the area's oldest churches, including Bethel Baptist Church founded in 1809 and First Presbyterian Church founded in 1823. Other exhibits cover the segregation and integration of Collinsville schools through digital videos, ten of the city's trailblazing women and their community impact, and thirteen historically or architecturally significant homes. The museum chronicles nearly a century of coal mining from 1860 to 1964, including maps showing which mines operated beneath homes. Additional exhibits tell the story of World War II through accounts of local service members, detail Blum Bells, the iconic stock bell factory acquired by blacksmith Christian Gottlieb Blum in 1880, and spotlight the Collins family founders and the city's first 75 years. The museum is located in Collinsville, Illinois, and opens Wednesday through Saturday.
