Lost Dutchman State Park sits at the base of the Superstition Mountains in the Sonoran Desert, forty miles east of Phoenix near Apache Junction. The park offers hiking trails suited to various skill levels, including the Native Plant Trail and the challenging Siphon Draw Trail, which leads to the Flatiron. A four-mile mountain bike loop trail winds through the park's terrain. Visitors encounter native wildlife such as mule deer, coyote, javelina and jackrabbit. Spring may bring displays of desert wildflowers depending on rainfall, with desert plants visible throughout the year. The park maintains 134 camping sites equipped with picnic tables, barbecue grills and fire pits. Guided programs include wildlife hikes about Sonoran Desert fauna, birding sessions, and a bioblitz event for recording plants and animals. Several trails connect into the Superstition Mountain Wilderness and Tonto National Forest beyond the park boundaries.
