About Boyce Thompson Arboretum

Boyce Thompson Arboretum's Wallace Desert Garden encompasses 13 acres with 1.5 miles of trails through 5,000 new plantings in the Sonoran Desert near Superior, Arizona. The arboretum holds 4,025 plant taxa across 135 acres of gardens, with collections from the United States, Mexico, Australia, Madagascar, India, China, Japan, Israel, South America, and Africa. Visitors explore nearly five miles of trails on foot or join docent-led cart tours to scenic spots. The arboretum offers daily general tours plus specialty walks focusing on birds—it is designated an Important Bird Area by the National Audubon Society—ethnobotany, and geology. Classes range from gardening and photography to goat art. Active duty military members with valid ID receive $2 off all admission prices for up to two people. College students presenting ID receive $3 off admission. Current BTA volunteers presenting their volunteer ID badge receive free admission. Tickets are sold online on the arboretum's website.
