About Lorain Historical Society - Carnegie Center
The Lorain Historical Society – Carnegie Center, housed in Lorain's historic Carnegie Library, preserves and shares the city's diverse history through exhibits, educational programs, and community events. Visitors explore displays documenting Lorain's industrial past and cultural heritage, including the Latino Lorain History Project and the Lorain Black History Archives. The Children's History Center offers field trips, camps, and educational programs aligned with Ohio Department of Education standards for students from pre-K through eighth grade. The center also hosts the Lorain Early Learning Initiative, a kindergarten readiness program for preschool children. Educational initiatives including Teaching Lorain and the Teaching Lorain Student Challenge serve the Lorain City School District. The facility features a gift shop and hosts special programming such as lectures and historical presentations throughout the year. Located in Lorain, the center welcomes community members and visitors interested in local history and civic engagement.

Admission is free. The venue says: “Because of generous donation by an anonymous donor, we are able to offer free admission to our guests for the month of September.”
