About Laurel Caverns State Park

Laurel Caverns State Park in Farmington contains Pennsylvania's largest cave, with over four miles of passages. Visitors descend the Grand Staircase and explore the Colorful Cavern through five distinct tour options: the Maze Tour, the Full Lighted Tour, the Tour and Crawl Program, the Introduction to Caving Program, and the Deep Depths Caving Program. The cave maintains a constant 52-degree temperature. At the Visitors' Center, guests purchase tickets and receive an introduction before entering. The Family Lookout terrace off the facility's back deck overlooks Chestnut Ridge. Panning for gemstones takes place in a cave-like setting adjacent to the gift shop, where participants use a sifting tray in a waist-high water trough that simulates 1800s gold-panning methods. The souvenir shop offers site-exclusive t-shirts and collectibles. The cave, formed from calcareous sandstone and lacking stalactites, ranks among the world's largest and steepest caves of its type. Families, school groups, scouts, and summer camps all visit.
