About Kristina Dana Hendrickson Cultural Center

The Kristina Dana Hendrickson Cultural Center occupies a historic church building constructed between 1906 and 1907 in Rialto, California. Architect H. M. Patterson designed the structure in Late Gothic Revival style with American Craftsman elements, featuring a gable roof with corner tower, pointed arch stained glass windows, redwood shingled walls, overhanging eaves with ornamental brackets, and decorative stickwork. The First Christian Church, founded in 1905, originally occupied the building until 1964. Dr. and Mrs. Merlin Hendrickson purchased and donated the church in 1970, leading to its acquisition by the City of Rialto for preservation. The Rialto Historical Society, established in 1971, spearheaded restoration efforts and transformed the old church into a community cultural center. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. Visitors can experience this restored example of early twentieth-century religious architecture and its cultural programming.
