About John J McDonough Museum of Art

The John J. McDonough Museum of Art in Youngstown invites visitors to explore contemporary art through exhibitions, installations, performances, and lectures within a modernist landmark designed by acclaimed architects Charles Gwathmey and Robert Siegel. The 20,000 square feet of gallery space features works by artists including Bonny Leibowitz, whose floor-based sculptures combine salvaged welded metals, plastics, industrial parts, tree branches, and roots to examine environmental stories. Alice Pixley Young's multimedia installations blend vocabularies from built and natural environments, while Deborah Wasserman paints landscapes exploring the contrast between environmental destruction and natural beauty. The museum presents dynamic programming that invites both campus and community members to discover meaning in contemporary art. General admission is free.
