Island Ferry Adventures operates ferry service to three barrier islands off Beaufort: Bird Shoal Beach, Carrot Island, and Sand Dollar. Visitors board boats to reach these uninhabited islands, accessible only by water. Once there, guests can relax on pristine beaches, hunt for sand dollars, collect shells, and observe wildlife including wild horses, gray foxes, river otters, sea turtles, and various fish species. The islands represent one of the few remaining undeveloped coastal barrier island systems in the world. Ferries run multiple times daily, with summer trips departing every half hour beginning at 9:00 AM and winter trips departing hourly starting at 10:00 AM. Pets and carry-ons travel free.
