Beaufort Historic Site centers on the Robert W. and Elva Faison Safrit Historical Center, located at the heart of Beaufort's National Registered Historic District. Visitors tour the historic buildings and grounds while staff and volunteers answer questions about local attractions, dining, and island experiences. The Old Beaufort Shop, housed within the center, stocks gifts, books, and souvenirs alongside handmade items from local artisans. The shop carries toys, crafts, jewelry, pirate attire, and colonial dress, plus handwoven pieces created on-site by the Warped Weavers. The site also hosts workshops such as acorn basket classes and special events throughout the year. An online shop allows visitors to order items remotely. A visit suits anyone interested in colonial history, local craftsmanship, and coastal North Carolina heritage. The Beaufort Historic Site welcomes walkers who want to explore the preserved district and learn about the town's past.
Hours: Monday – Saturday 9:30 am – 5:00 pm
