Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center in Eureka offers boating safety education, on-the-water instruction, and supervised public access to Humboldt Bay. Operated by Cal Poly Humboldt's Outdoor Adventures program, the center serves both students and the broader community with hands-on courses and skill-building classes. Programs are designed specifically for Northern California's unique cold-water, tidal, and wind-driven conditions. The center provides boating safety courses, practical instruction for expanding skills, and supervised equipment rentals. Whether visitors are brand new to boating or have prior experience, programs emphasize practical safety, local knowledge, and confidence on the water. The facility welcomes community members, students, families, and visitors of all skill levels. Built with support from the California Department of Parks and Recreation, Division of Boating and Waterways, the center continues to receive annual funding supporting participant scholarships, equipment, instructor training, and National Safe Boating Week events.
