Heritage Park Village and Museum in Oceanside preserves the town's original center across two acres of restored historical buildings. Visitors walk through structures including the first General Store, a blacksmith shop and livery stables, a jail, the Portola Inn, Libby School, and the Blade newspaper building. The village grounds feature a large grassy area shaded by a mature tree and centered around a gazebo. The site occupies land that once served as a Spanish exploration trail, later becoming a stagecoach and wagon route connecting San Diego and Los Angeles. The historical preservation effort is maintained by Friends of Heritage Park, a volunteer organization. The museum accommodates group tours and special events. A visit transports guests to Oceanside's earlier era through the authentic buildings and period structures that define the village landscape.
