About Freeman Round House

The Oliver Nestus Freeman Round House Museum in Wilson preserves and presents African-American history, art, and culture through exhibits housed in the Round House and the museum's extension. Visitors explore displays spanning from slave freedom papers to contemporary trailblazers, learning about the community's rich heritage. The museum showcases examples of Oliver Freeman's creative work both inside and throughout the grounds. Educational programs and virtual tours introduce visitors to East Wilson, the community, and Freeman's biography. During summer months, the museum hosts a concert series on the lawn featuring gospel, jazz, and other musical performances. Very little walking is required to view the exhibits, and the venue is handicap accessible. Groups and buses are welcome. The museum is located in Wilson, North Carolina, with free general admission and published hours Tuesday through Saturday.
