About Faraway Farm Alpacas

Faraway Farm Alpacas is a working farm in the historic Hudson Valley where visitors meet award-winning huacaya alpacas and observe the sustainable agricultural operation that surrounds them. Guests participate in educational tours to learn about the herd and explore the hillside property dotted with organic vegetable gardens, fruit trees, berry bushes, shitake logs, and flowers alongside alpaca pastures. The farm also raises Icelandic Horses on the land, which has been in the Blumberg family since 1951. Owners Leda Blumberg and Steve Cole host workshops and private events throughout the year, sharing their knowledge of alpaca husbandry and the farm's yarn production from their own fleece mill partnership. The property sits just 40 miles north of New York City in Yorktown Heights, offering families and groups an opportunity to experience authentic farm life and interact with the animals in a pastoral setting.
