About Erie Canal Park

Erie Canal Park is a museum and boat tour destination in Camillus, New York where visitors explore the history of the Erie Canal through exhibits, artifacts, and water-based experiences. The park preserves two versions of the original canal—Clinton's Ditch and the First Enlargement—along with the restored 1842 Nine Mile Creek Aqueduct, a 144-foot stone structure listed on the National Registry of Historic Sites. Sims' Store Museum, a replica of an 1800s canal store, houses exhibits on canal construction, local history, models of locks and aqueducts, and an 1800s bedroom. The Day Peckinpaugh Lifeboat Exhibit and Power Along the Canal Exhibit showcase maritime and industrial heritage. Visitors can take 45-minute narrated boat tours over the aqueduct on select days, or explore miles of wooden paths for hiking and biking throughout the wooded grounds. The park welcomes school groups and is dog-friendly, making it suitable for families interested in regional history and outdoor recreation.
