About El Paso Museum of Archaeology

The El Paso Museum of Archaeology presents 14,000 years of prehistory in the El Paso area, the greater Southwest, and northern Mexico. Visitors explore dioramas and exhibits depicting American Indian lives and material culture, from Paleoindian hunters of the Ice Age to modern descendants. Periodic exhibits change to reflect the museum's collections and community interests. The auditorium and North Gallery feature special exhibits alongside explore-able drawers of artifacts from across the United States. Summer camps offer interactive, hands-on experiences with themes including Archaeology is Awesome and Ancient Animals. The museum conducts programming using the surrounding Wilderness Park to teach preservation of the Chihuahuan Desert ecosystem. A museum store sells books, ceramics, authentic Indian jewelry and art, and postcards. General admission is free.
