About Downing Park Urban Farm

Downing Park Urban Farm is a two-acre community farm in Newburgh where visitors grow and harvest fresh food using organic practices. The farm features raised garden beds, in-ground no-till growing areas, and greenhouses for cultivation. Crops include spinach, tomatillos, eggplant, collards, garlic, squash, fresh herbs, and flowers such as ranunculus, dahlias, sunflowers, and zinnias. A farm market sells fresh produce harvested on-site. The farm offers Saturday morning farm tours and operates a farm market during those hours. Weekday group tours accommodate clubs, youth groups, and school classes of up to thirty people by appointment. Adult education programs include workshops on container gardening and flower subscriptions. Visitors experience how urban farming techniques provide food security while reducing carbon footprint and supporting community wellness in Newburgh.
