Crystal Cave is an underground cavern near Kutztown featuring milky white crystalline formations on walls and ceilings that have drawn visitors for over 145 years. Guided tours descend 125 feet underground with courteous guides explaining the cave's geology and natural history, plus a film in the Crystal Cave Theater about Pennsylvania's first show cave. The underground temperature remains a constant 54 degrees. The 150-acre site offers multiple attractions beyond the cave itself: gemstone panning, miniature golf, a rock and mineral shop, a historic museum and trading post, hiking trails, an ice cream parlor, a restaurant and café, and a historic inn with gift shop. The cave operates daily and tours run rain or shine. Families with children of all ages can spend a full day exploring the grounds and participating in activities suited to different interests. The attraction charges admission for cave tours and separately for optional activities like panning and golf.
