Climbmax Rock Climbing Gym in Tempe is an indoor climbing facility where visitors scale handmade cement walls across multiple climbing disciplines. The gym features top rope climbing walls that rise 30 feet or higher, marked with the classic tape method to create numerous routes for different skill levels. Bouldering takes up two full stories with over 350 routes total, including a distinctive super cave that allows climbers to ascend from the first floor to the second. Lead climbing routes span nearly all top rope walls, with an additional lead climbing arch for advanced climbers. Visitors who are new to lead climbing can take classes to develop their skills. The gym rents climbing shoes, harnesses, and chalk for those without their own gear. Climbers need a partner for top rope and lead climbing, though a belay partner board helps visitors connect. Climbmax welcomes all skill levels and is located southeast of Phoenix near Arizona State University.
