About City of Raleigh Museum

The City of Raleigh Museum preserves and shares the history of North Carolina's capital through curated exhibits and historical artifacts. Visitors explore engaging displays that tell the story of Raleigh's development and heritage across more than two centuries. The museum grew from the vision of local historian Beth Crabtree and has operated since 1993, now managed by the City of Raleigh with support from the nonprofit Friends of the COR Museum. The institution collects artifacts, curates exhibits, and provides educational programming that highlights the city's unique past as both state capital and municipality. General admission is free. The museum hosts community events throughout the year, including Downtown Business Mixers and First Friday evening hours.
