The Brazos Valley African American Museum in Bryan explores and preserves the cultural history and heritage of African Americans in the region. Visitors view rotating exhibitions that examine African American experiences across different eras and contexts. Current and recent exhibits have included "At the Gates of Freedom: Black Experiences in the Revolutionary Era" and "William A. Scott III: Witness to the Holocaust." The museum maintains archival records, historical artifacts, letters, documents, and oral histories that schools, churches, and organizations can access. The facility also offers a FamilySearch program for family history research and resources. Teachers can utilize the museum's educational materials and resources. The museum, built on the site of one of the original Black schools in the Brazos Valley, opened to the public in 2006. Visitors can schedule tours and attend community events held at the location.
