About Bomke Family Farms

Bomke Family Farms is a working farm in Springfield, Illinois, where visitors encounter mini Highland cattle, a distinctive breed known for their small stature and long horns. The farm raises these animals alongside Gelbvieh cattle, corn and soybean crops, and maintains a herd that includes bull calves, heifer calves, and yearling bulls available for purchase. The operation also raises pigs, with baby piggies arriving seasonally. Visitors interested in mini Highland cattle can view available calves on the property or learn about the animals through the farm's offerings. All calves raised here are dehorned for safer handling. The farm combines livestock breeding with row crop agriculture, operating as both a working homestead and a place where families can observe authentic farm operations and the animals that inhabit them.
