About Appalachian Ski Mtn

Appalachian Ski Mtn, where snowmakers create fresh powder on the entire mountain with just one cold night, sits in Blowing Rock as the High Country's first ski area, operating since 1962. Visitors ski or snowboard across daily-groomed slopes, then take group or private lessons through the French-Swiss Ski College, the Southeast's oldest ski school. The mountain stays open through evening and midnight sessions, including Midnight Blast Nights that offer late-night skiing rare in the region. All tickets and rentals require online reservation through the venue's site. Military families receive $5 off adult ski tickets for active soldiers, spouses, and dependent children. Students and staff from Watauga County schools and adjacent counties pay $10 for 9am–5pm tickets when schools close for snow, using code LOCALSNOW2025. The first Sunday of each month offers $12 ski or ride tickets from 6–11pm when purchased online by noon that day. Christmas Day skiing from 1–10pm sells for half price when ordered online in advance.
