About Affeldt Mion Museum

Affeldt Mion Museum, named for La Posada Hotel owners Allan Affeldt and Tina Mion, celebrates Winslow's artistic heritage within the restored 1930 depot. The museum highlights the history of La Posada, the Fred Harvey Company, and architect Mary Colter's contributions to the region. A centerpiece exhibit, Diyogí Tsoh: The Big Rug, showcases the largest known traditionally made Navajo rug from the 1930s. The Winslow Studio Artists Gallery in the contemporary addition features work by modern artists who relocated to Winslow following La Posada's rehabilitation and now occupy nearby historic studio buildings. The Tina Mion Art Space displays contemporary paintings and object works by the co-owner above the hotel's ballroom. Nearby, Snowdrift Art Space offers tours by appointment to view Dan Lutzick's vast collection of sculptural arrays crafted from reclaimed materials across his 23,000-square-foot studio. The museum operates daily in downtown Winslow on Route 66, honoring what art and architecture contribute to community revitalization.
