About West Licking Historical Society

West Licking Historical Society preserves and shares the history of western Licking County, including Harrison and Etna townships, Jersey Township, Kirkersville, and Pataskala. Visitors explore local history through exhibits at the Mead-Needham Museum and historical displays at the Harrison Township House. The Society maintains a transportation museum at the historic Outville Depot and holds every edition of the Pataskala Standard since 1886 in climate-controlled storage. Members and visitors participate in Let's Talk About History presentations and the Genealogy Learning Lab, which covers topics like DNA testing. The organization also oversees the Licking County Historical Alliance Passport Challenge, an exploration of local heritage sites across the region. The Society hosts community events including the Pataskala Main Street Cookie Walk and welcomes area third graders for hands-on history lessons at its museum locations. Founded in 1995 and based in Pataskala, Ohio, the organization now has over 100 members dedicated to documenting and preserving community heritage.
