About Waynesborough Historical Village

Waynesborough Historical Village in Goldsboro preserves early rural life through relocated historic structures that visitors can tour. The General Store, built in the mid-1920s, displays authentic merchandise and produce cases, old scales, meat and dry goods wrapping paper dispensers, cash registers, farm tools, tobacco sticks, and a wood stove. A checkerboard game made from bottle caps sits mounted on a barrel. The interior also features ladies hats, dry goods containers, toiletry products, and miscellaneous household supplies arranged as they would have been in a country store. The Wiggins House, a one-room residence with no electricity or indoor plumbing, shows how families lived on the land now part of Cliffs of the Neuse State Park. The house contains period furnishings and demonstrates how water was collected from springs or rain barrels. An attached outhouse stands nearby. The Kennedy Doctor's Office documents the life of Dr. John Bryan Kennedy, born in 1845, who served the local community.
